Pigs Ears, It's What's for Dinner...on Halloween
Even when The New Yorker magazines pile up, we always find time to read the "Table for Two" column. This week's column points us to an appropriate spot to dine on Halloween. El Quinto Pino features Pig Ear Salad.
A more unconventional option was the pig's-ear salad, served cold and with a vinegary dressing. The ears, carved into bite-sized chunks, were a little gray, and gristly; one could easily imagine them flapping against a porcine skull. (It didn't taste bad, exactly, but it was the only dish left unfinished.) Slightly less shocking (and infinitely more appealing) was the sea-urchin panini, a slim cylinder of baguette slathered with butter, spice, and briny, aphrodisiacal roe.[from The New Yorker by Andrea Thompson]
